The Starving Games

Set in the most depressing corner of a post-apocalyptic future, our heroine Kantmiss Evershot (Maiara Walsh) volunteers to take her manipulative young...er sister's place in the seventy-fifth annual "Starving Games." In doing so, she must leave behind her smoldering just-a-friend Dale (Brant Daugherty) and team up with the geeky baker's son Peter Malarkey (Cody Allen Christian) in a fight for her life. But wait, there's more! She could also win an old ham, a coupon for a foot-long sub at a six-inch price, and a partially eaten pickle! In The Starving Games, Friedberg and Seltzer's sixth cinematic spoof of box-office hits, the prolific parody duo has its sights trained on the adventure blockbuster The Hunger Games! It's all the laughs and half the calories as they sling dozens of cock-eyed, barbed arrows at sci-fi, action and fantasy films from The Avengers and Oz the Great and Powerful to pop culture characters and celebrities like Harry Potter and Taylor Swift. Show More

venture, the duo takes aim at the popular Hunger Games series, as well as various other pop culture references. The film is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the annual Starving Games take place. Kantmiss Evershot volunteers to participate in the games after her sister is chosen.

Throughout the film, Kantmiss must navigate the dangerous and absurd challenges of the games, all while forming an unlikely alliance with Peter, the geeky baker's son. As the games progress, Kantmiss finds herself torn between her loyalty to Dale, her just-a-friend, and her growing feelings for Peter. The film combines action, comedy, and satire to poke fun at the conventions of both the Hunger Games series and other popular films.

In addition to the intense competition, Kantmiss has the opportunity to win various bizarre prizes, including an old ham, a discounted foot-long sub, and a partially eaten pickle.

The Starving Games is the sixth film from comedy duo Friedberg and Seltzer, known for their previous satirical spoofs such as Epic Movie and Meet the Spartans. The film offers a lighthearted and humorous take on the dystopian action genre, with plenty of laughs along the way.
