In a Korean boarding school, there is a legend about its twenty-eight steps stairway: when the twentieth-ninth step appears, the fox will grant a wish... to the climber. The lesbian ballet student Kim So-hee is in deep love with her passive girlfriend and also ballet student Yoon Jin-sung. When there is a competition for a single spot in a famous ballet school in Russia, the envious Jin-sung finds the twentieth-ninth step and asks to beat the favorite So-hee. However, there is a price to pay for the wish unknown to Jin-sung and the consequence is the accidental death of So-hee. In the Korean boarding school, there is a mysterious legend surrounding the twenty-eight step stairway. According to the legend, when the twenty-ninth step appears, it is said that a magical fox will grant any wish to the person who climbs it. Kim So-hee, a passionate lesbian ballet student, is deeply in love with her girlfriend, Yoon Jin-sung, who is also a ballet student.

When a competition arises for a coveted spot in a prestigious ballet school in Russia, a rivalry ensues between So-hee and Jin-sung. In her envy, Jin-sung discovers the elusive twenty-ninth step and makes a wish to defeat So-hee in the competition. Unbeknownst to Jin-sung, every wish made on the twenty-ninth step comes at a heavy price.

Tragically, So-hee ends up dying accidentally as a result of Jin-sung's wish. Meanwhile, Eon Hae-ju, an overweight student who is often despised by her peers, learns about the legendary stairs and makes her own wish to become beautiful. However, she soon realizes that her wish is not without consequences.

As the story unfolds, the students find themselves plagued by supernatural occurrences and faced with the repercussions of their wishes. They must confront their darkest secrets and come to terms with the price they have paid for their desires. Wishing Stairs is a thrilling and haunting film that explores the dangers of unchecked ambition and the price of making wishes.
