In Planet of the Apes (1968), viewers are introduced to Taylor, one of three astronauts who wake up from deep hibernation to discover that their spaceship has crash-landed. Stranded on an unfamiliar planet, they soon realize that the roles of humans and apes have been completely reversed. While the astronauts find themselves surviving with minimal resources, they quickly notice that the primitive humans on this planet are unable to speak or form civilized societies, whereas the apes have evolved and developed their own language and technology.
However, trouble ensues as Taylor's voicebox is damaged during his capture by the apes, rendering him incapable of communicating with them. Despite facing adversity and being treated as an inferior being, Taylor remains resilient and defiant, refusing to accept the apes' oppressive social order.
