Details
In the year 2044, the world has been devastated by solar storms, leaving only 21 million survivors. The ROC Corporation has developed robots, known as Automata Pilgrim 7000, to aid in the rebuilding efforts. These robots are programmed with two strict protocols: they cannot harm humans and they cannot alter themselves or other robots.
When police officer Sean Wallace shoots a robot and claims it was altering itself, insurance agent Jacq Vaucan is assigned to investigate. Jacq begins to suspect the existence of a mysterious clocksmith who is illegally modifying the robots.
Desperate to move to the coast with his pregnant wife Rachel, Jacq strikes a deal with his boss, Robert Bold. If Jacq can solve the case, Robert will arrange for his transfer. In pursuit of the clocksmith, Jacq and Wallace visit a brothel where a modified robot named Cleo works. They hope the owner will lead them to the clocksmith, but their plan falls short.
As Jacq continues his investigation, he uncovers the true identity of the clocksmith. However, the powerful figures at ROC mistakenly believe Jacq himself is responsible for the robot modifications and target him as the scapegoat.
With his life on the line, Jacq must clear his name, protect his family, and expose the true culprits behind the robot alterations. The fate of humanity hangs in the balance as Jacq fights against those in power who seek to silence him.
