In the animated film Brother Bear / Björnbröder (2003), Kenai, a man who holds a deep grudge against bears, undergoes a transformative experience when he is turned into a bear himself. The story follows Kenai's journey to regain his human form and the valuable life lessons he learns along the way.
Haunted by the death of his older brother, who was killed in a battle with a bear, Kenai is visited by his brother's spirit. He is told that to become human again, he must venture to the place where the Northern Lights touch the Earth. Filled with hope, Kenai embarks on a long and arduous journey.
During his travels, Kenai encounters a young and talkative bear named Koda. While Koda is searching for his way back home, which coincidentally lies near the destination Kenai seeks, the two bears form an unlikely friendship. However, their bond is threatened by the relentless pursuit of Kenai's other brother, Denahi, who believes Kenai to be dead.
As they face various challenges and meet new friends along the way, Kenai begins to see the world through Koda's eyes. He realizes that humans, too, can be monsters, causing him to reassess his views on both bears and humans. This newfound perspective prompts Kenai to make a life-altering decision that forever changes the course of his journey.
