In the 1999 film Election, a high school teacher named Jim McAllister finds himself facing an unexpected challenge when an ambitious and over-achieving student named Tracy Flick decides to run for student body president. Jim, who is also the faculty adviser for the student government, initially supports Tracy's opponent, a popular and well-liked athlete named Paul Metzler.
