In the movie Elling (2001), we follow the story of Elling, a sheltered would-be poet in his forties, who is sent to live in a state institution after his mother passes away. There, he meets Kjell Bjarne, a kind-hearted and woman-obsessed virgin also in his forties. Despite their differences, the two men forge a strong bond and support each other through the challenges they face in the institution.
After two years, Elling and Kjell Bjarne are released and provided with a state-funded apartment and stipend in the hopes that they can learn to live independently. As they navigate their new lives in the outside world, they encounter various obstacles and experiences that test their friendship and resilience.
Elling is a heartwarming and humorous tale of two unlikely friends finding their way in a world that can be both confusing and unforgiving. With its touching story and endearing characters, this film captivates audiences and showcases the power of human connection and perseverance.
