In the remote Australian desert town of Nathgari, newcomers Catherine and Matthew Parker's lives are turned upside down when their teenage children, Tommy and Lily, mysteriously vanish just before a massive dust storm hits. As the dust storm blankets Nathgari in darkness, the townspeople band together to search for the missing siblings, led by local police officer David Rae. However, it becomes evident that there may be something sinister behind Tommy and Lily's disappearance.
Suspicion spreads throughout the town, and rumors start to circulate, causing public opinion to turn against the Parkers. With each passing day, the chances of finding Tommy and Lily alive decrease, and the extreme temperatures begin to take a toll on Catherine and Matthew.
